
One mic that delivers particularly strong bass close-up is Aston Mic's Element (which I also have and reviewed recently). One use I didn't see mentioned in this forum (I admit I didn't read all 25 pages) is for automatically compensating bass-boost of the proximity effect when a singer moves in and out with a cardioid or figure-8 mic. And the results when used discretely are excellent.


Some good observations here - I just reviewed SOOTHE2 in GS (oddly, no one ever had! Even version 1!) and having DSEQ3, TEOTE, MSpectralDynamics, and several more basic dynamic EQ (where you need to select the frequency, threshold, etc.) I'd say SOOTHE2 is a real time saver.
